This page is an update to the original Short Yellows in St. Pete page, and it is a targeted analysis of several issues related to short yellow signal times at St. Petersburg, Florida traffic intersections that have been equipped with red light cameras as of January 6th, 2014. This new report includes an update on the original report and a recalculation of the short yellow citations. It also includes information on a yellow signal that has been lowered recently and the dramatic increase in citations issued because of it. A new short yellow problem is also detailed, where the yellow signal time at a red light camera approach with a downgrade slope is shown to have too short of a yellow signal time because the grade was never taken into account when calculating the yellow signal time. |
